Greg's Bio
Greg Fields, Taylors, S.C., Lead Vocals
At a very early age I realized how hard it was to get attention in our home. Growing up in a small mill town with a brother on the road with a rock band and a talented church piano playing sister, somehow I found my place. I watched all the T.V. shows and listened to all my moms old records, Then I would try to sing like Merle and pick like Roy. Yeah, I even had a red, white, and blue guitar like Buck. My sister later broke it over my knee in a fuss. I forgave her but I wonder now what it would be worth. I still miss those evenings by the piano learning notes and harmonies with our mom. Its been a long time since then and I've had many other influences. Besides, you can't grow up in the 70's and 80's without some of that stuff sticking with you.
I started my first band "The Works" while still in high school. We got bored with the barn and started booking small bars and private parties where we learned way too early how to drink, smoke and be stupid. We learned a lot about music and people and somehow survived it all. I left that band and joined a Spartanburg, S.C. based band to do original music and write songs. You really get tired of doing other peoples songs and making them famous. Like a lot of other bands we got caught up in the 90's country explosion, named ourselves "Tobacco Road" and went on the road, boots and all.
Hey,good music shouldn't be classified this or that, if it makes you feel good, that's what matters. I've never really considered myself a singer, just a lucky guy working with great musicians. I love what I'm doing and sing through whatever they put in front of me. Thanks for listening!......miss ya!
