TOBACCO ROAD

THE BIO

After 75 years the tobacco road still remained, and while in many places it was beginning to show signs of washing away, it's depressions and hollows had made a permanent contour that would remain as long as the sand hills. from ,Tobacco Road by Erskine Caldwell, 1932

Hailing from the upstate of South Carolina, Tobacco Road's six piece band members know well the changing rural lifestyle the 1932 Erskine Caldwell classic portrays. The novel is about the deep honesty of people struggling everyday to find their way - - a theme the band can appreciate. Their music explores the feelings and concerns of the common man, embodying the simple lifestyle and the complicated challenges we all face.

In a collaboration process unique to today's country music, the members of Tobacco Road write the majority of the band's material. They often go into rehearsal, work through ideas, and leave with a song. This is a group effort that works.

Tobacco Road wrote eight of the ten songs on their self-titled album. They continue to write and record. The result is songs directed at the soul, uncovering emotions buried beneath the surface, with lyrics that cut to the heart of the matter.

The members of Tobacco Road have worked together in various combinations for many years. They have created a following in the Southeast, playing as many as 200 dates a year at nightclubs and major festivals. They now devote much of their time working in their new studio facility. The band has opened for some of today's most popular country artists, including Little Big Town, Sawyer Brown, Little Texas, Wade Hayes, Skip Ewing, Terry McBride, Delbert McClinton and our most memorable,Vern Gosdin and Kenny Chesney at THE WILD HORSE in Nashville.

Tobacco Road is what country music has been waiting for; real music by a real band.
